Thursday, July 9, 2009 Y 9:53 PM Results: Number of blades- 3 * Trial 1- 36 turns/rounds Trial 2- 42 turns/rounds Trial 3- 41 turns/rounds Average- 40 turns/rounds Trial 1- 21 turns/rounds Trial 2- 18 turns/rounds Trial 3- 26 turns/rounds Average- 21 turns/rounds * Windmill blade angle- 60 degrees Trial 1- 19 turns/rounds Trial 2- 13 turns/rounds Trial 3- 18 turns/rounds Average- 16 turns/rounds * Conclusion: the windmill blade angle 20 degrees and the round turn is the best. ( 20 degrees for a windmill blade angle is the most efficient.) * Wednesday, June 24, 2009 Y 4:16 AM yes dion will be going to the sci lab but i will not be going bcoz i dont have the time to. i had tested the experiment pls call marissa for further details. Sunday, June 21, 2009 Y 4:10 AM these pictures were taken on the 15th, monday. they show the process of making the blades. they are done but we have yet to start the project, which is soon. Y 4:03 AM hey, just want to confirm, are we going to gather at the physics lab this friday (26/6) at 1230? can't use my phone to reply cos it's spoilt. thanks, nicole. Apparatus and Meterials needed: Mounting board Sticks Standing fan Protractor (XL) Long ruler Pen knife cardboard box Experimental Procedure Setup: 1.Cut the mounting board into the e of 30cm x 10cm 2.Stick the stick onto the mounting board 3.Tilt it to the angle of 180 degrees 4.Poke the sticks into a cardboard box Make sure the box can rotate freely. 5.With the fan blowing at a distance of 1metre away, time how long it takes for it to turn 5 rounds 6.Repeat step 3 to 5 with a few different angles 7. observe the results Independent Variable: Angle of the blade Dependent Variable: How long it takes for the blade to turn 5 rounds Controlled Variables (constants): 1.length of blade 2.distance of fan from blade 3.length how much of stick was poked into the cardboard box. |
